Presentation of the organisation:

La commune de Neuchâtel est limitée au sud par la rive du lac qui se trouve à une altitude de 429.4 mètres, et culmine au nord à 1'178,4 mètres au Signal de Chaumont.
La superficie de la commune est de 1'745 hectares dont 36% en terrain construit. Le solde consiste essentiellement en forêts et en quelques prés.
Neuchâtel est jumelée avec Besançon (Franche-Comté, France) depuis 1975, avec Aarau (Suisse alémanique) et Sansepolcro (Toscane, Italie) depuis 1997.





Actions implemented in the field of building performance:

En 1993, le Conseil général (autorité législative) accepte que la Ville de Neuchâtel s'engage dans le programme "Cité de l'énergie". Après deux ans de travaux et d'études, le label "Cité de l'énergie" lui est décerné. Depuis cette date, les nombreux assainissements réalisés sur des propriétés communales ont permis d'influencer favorablement l'évolution du bilan des énergies thermiques : de 42'900 MWh par an en 1990, ce qui correspond à l'équivalent de 4'290'000 litres de mazout, cette consommation a diminué de plus de 10% en 2000 pour s'établir à 38'500 cette année-là.
L'objectif annoncé pour l'an 2010 vise une réduction de la consommation des énergie fossiles utilisées à des fins thermiques de 15% par rapport à l'an 2000. Il s'agit donc de réaliser d'ici-là des économies annuelles de l'ordre de 5'800 MWh, ce qui correspond à l'équivalent de 580'000 litres de mazout par année.
Une attention particulière est également portée sur l'évolution des consommations d'électricité, d'eau et de carburant.
