Presentation of the organisation:

Die Gemeinde Mäder liegt auf 414m Seehöhe im Vorarlberger Rheintal, direkt am Rhein, an der Grenze zur benachbarten Schweiz (Gemeinde Kriessern). Der Rhein, Europas größter Wildbach, hat über Jahrhunderte hinweg das Schicksal der Gemeinde bestimmt und war bis in die 50er Jahre für die sprichwörtliche Armut des Ortes verantwortlich. Mäder hat eine stark steigende Bevölkerungsentwicklung - bei der Volkszählung 1951 hatte Mäder 786 EinwohnerInnen, 1991 waren es bereits 2.724 und heute sind es 3.276 EW. Die Zahl der Häuser ist in diesem Zeitraum von 180 auf über 900 gestiegen.
Die Gemeinde bietet in 87 Industrie- und Gewerbebetrieben 927 Arbeitsplätze an – wirtschaftlich dominierend wirkt sich der Textilveredler Huber Trikot (Marken wie Skiny, Hockey, Hanro,..) mit insgesamt 320 Arbeitsplätzen aus.

Start der Energiebuchhaltung 1991
Ab 1994 monatliches Energiecontrollings für alle Gemeindegebäude
Ab 2002 jährlich umfangreicher Energiebericht aller Gebäude und
Anlagen
Fahrzeugen und deren Verbrauch erfasst

Bau und Ausbau einer Biomasse-Nahwärmeversorgung (250kW)
für das Schul- und Kulturzentrum (Abdeckung 60 bis auf 79%
gesteigert
Pelletsheizung in der VS ab 2005 Steigerung auf 95%

CO2 – Bilanz 2000 bis 2004
Senkung des gesamten CO2-Ausstoßes um 10%
