Comune di Rimini
Italy - 140 inhabitants

Presentation of the organisation:

The Municipality of Rimini, wordily - known turistic resort, has long ago recognised the environmental issue as a key factor of urban welfare and urban politics. In order to disseminate an adequate environment information, since 2001, Rimini has been publishing its Environmental State Annual Report.
In the field of Sustainable Development and Climate Protection the Aalborg Protocol was signed in 2001 and while entering the Italian Cities Campaign to Climate Protection, 10 projects have been formally adopted by Borough Council in 2001 in order to enhance life quality in Rimini while reducing planet’s warming.
The Municipality of Rimini has established in 2001 its Local A21 Forum with active involvement of major local stakeholders.
The Municipality of Rimini is going to adopt a bio-architecture and bio-climatic Urban Master Plan amendment in order to favour sustainable building with volumetric incentives.
Since 1997, the Municipality of Rimini has started a comprehensive project aimed to energy saving in domestic heating, ranging from extensive boiler's efficiency control to an extensive use of Voluntary Protocols: with SMEs and VSEs (to get higher maintenance standards, keener performance control and active involvement of technicians in domestic energy saving) and with local gas distributor (to incentivate qualified end-users to use of renewables).
The City of Rimini represents an unique showcase not only because of its peculiar turistic role, but because Rimini’s Fair already hosts an annual international exhibition on Energy Saving Technologies and Best Practices.
Partecipate as an active Partner to several European Projects (BELIEF - EIE, EMMA - LIFE)
