Energy efficiency in the world design capital: News from Helsinki
Two productive events were held in the last months in Helsinki:
On the 25th of March a seminar was held for the “City of Helsinki Eco-supporters” on the topic of “Tools for energy efficiency”. The city presented all the commitments it has made to decrease CO2 emissions and provided guidance on how the eco-supporters can carry out energy efficiency work in practise. There was a special focus on energy labels and certificates including the Display® label. About 20 persons participated.
On the 28th of May a National users club was organised titled “Energy labels and certificates as a communication tool for energy efficiency”. All cities that have made voluntary energy efficiency agreement with the Government, six biggest towns in Finland, Covenant of Mayors Cities in Finland and Finnish Energy Agencies were invited. The guest speakers were persons from the Ministry of the Environment (responsible for implementation of EPBD in Finland), from the Ministry of Employment and the Economy (responsible for energy efficiency agreements), from Motiva (National Energy Agency), from Senate Properties (Government’s property manager) and from Central Finland Energy Agency. The 20 participants were very happy to have the time to debate the issues concerning energy monitoring and energy certificates and their usability for different purposes.
