In Finland the Display® tool has been adapted to the national legislation in response to a newly released law on energy performance certificates in early 2013. The adaptation was closely coordinated with the city of Helsinki that is using the Display® Campaign since 2006 as a communication tool for raising awareness of passers-by and buildings’ users.
Other countries already benefit from national adaptation like France, which is using Display® as a calculation and communication tool in addition to the diagnosis of energy performance (DEP) of public buildings. France is the country with most Display® users with around 200 local authorities. Switzerland is using Display® for 10 years, the tool has been adapted to national requirements used by the cantonal energy performance certificate (CECB) in partnership with the Energy and Municipal Research Center (CREM). Switzerland is the second largest country in terms of Display® participants all over Europe with 64 local authorities across the country.
Furthermore, the Display® team has produced some country reports, which highlight the possibilities for the adaptation of Display® poster and its communication campaign to a national transposition : http://display-campaign.org/ab_839_1035
The European Display® Campaign has started in 2003, including nearly 17,500 buildings in more than 560 local authorities in Europe. It is today the largest European voluntary scheme of EPBD (Energy Performance of Buildings Directive) and the largest database for benchmarking public buildings in Europe.
