10 000 buildings in March 2009!
Back in 2005 we were so proud to surpass the 1000 buildings mark. Since then with the increasing number of buildings and posters voluntarily being entered in the calculation tool our database has been growing at an average of more than 2000 buildings per year. There are now more than 4000 general schools and almost 1500 administrative and social cultural buildings in the database. This database has enabled viable European benchmarks to be set for a number of different public building categories. In certain member states such as France and soon in Hungary the data has/will assist/ed setting up national benchmarks.

350 members producing 10 000 buildings and 18 000 posters is a very positive indication that Municipalities are interested in how much their buildings consume and more importantly they are ready to communicate this to their citizens via dynamic and original communication campaigns (see TCA awards). Communicating energy, carbon and water consumption to citizens is a large step towards transparency and has motivated numerous Display members to encourage the public to play their part in improving building performances. Many Municipalities also “walk the talk” and have made budgets available to renovate their building stock as well as improve their building management systems.
