TCA Award Prizes 2006
1st Prize awarded to Bristol (UK)
 | Bristol won the votes of the jury through their creative concept, good targeting, innovative use of materials and efficient follow-up work in their cultural CREATE centre.
They received a large electronic display screen which visualises building consumption data and savings in real-time. With this tool you can present your Display® efforts to the public in a clear, colourful and didactic way. In addition, this screen is personally designed for the winning city and is manufactured by the German company Messwert GmbH. |
2nd Prize awarded to Brasov (RO)
Brasov demonstrated great creativity by introducing its own ideas and approaches in the promotion of the efficient use of energy. Their numerous awareness-raising activities involved sports and arts events in local schools.
Thanks to the sponsoring of the Swiss Aqua Art company Brasov are able to equip the kitchens and bathrooms with 200 Aquaclic water saving devices. These devises not only help save 50% in water consumption, but also ensure that the city’s environmental commitment is visible to the public. |

3rd Prize awarded to Lille (FR)
 | The third prize went to the French city of Lille, which submitted a progressive strategy paper. Their communication is centred around the financial benefits of environmentally-friendly behaviour |
Lille received a retractable banner stand highlighting the city’s specific Display® activities and communication campaign and will be used to promote the city locally and throughout Europe.
Special Jury Prize awarded to Lausanne (CH)
| According to the international jury, the city of Lausanne provides the example of a city which had the political courage to be very active in the field of energy efficiency and who applies its philosophy day by day. |

We received 6 applications for the 2006 Towards Class A Award: Braşov (RO), Bristol (UK), Colomiers (FR), Lausanne (CH), Lille (FR) and Verona (IT).

The “TCA” Awards 2006 ceremony was held during the 3rd BISE Forum in Riga on the 26th October. Every year about 100 participants from New Member States, Candidate Countries, Western Balkan Countries and Ukraine gather to exchange experiences and develop joint strategies to promote sustainable energy and energy efficiency.
| Patrick Lambert, Director of the Intelligent Energy Executive Agency (IEEA), together with jury president Cllr Alison Hay (CEMR) handed over the prizes to the winner cities of Bristol (UK), Brasov (Romania) and Lille (France) for their exemplary municipal communication strategies contributing to the Display® European climate campaign. The Swiss city of Lausanne received the “special jury prize” from the international jury. |

Energy exhibition in Rennes |

In the framework of the Energy-Climate Plan, an exhibition about energy and future will be held in the city centre from February 2005 to February 2006. It will be the opportunity to show energy issues at the global and local levels and to advise people about actions we can implement at different levels.
