EVENT: ’Communicate your buildings energy rating – 7 magical years of the Display® Campaign’

19 April 2011, Béatrice Alcaraz | 1259

This ‘magical’ event took place in the afternoon April 13th in the course of the European Sustainable Energy Week in Brussels (BE).

Fully loaded programme was divided into three sessions spiced with the fifth Towards Class “A” Award Ceremony at the end. Numerous participants could testify to interesting and, at times, lively and dynamic discussion between all the panellists.

Pekka Sauri, Vice President of Energy-Cities (EC) and Deputy Mayor of Helsinki (FI), after greeted the event, expressed that « Thanks to the Display® Campaign local authorities continue to be at the forefront of Energy Certification and go beyond the EPBD recast requirements as they organise original and dynamic local communication campaigns to encourage local citizens to be involved in the energy consumption reduction of public buildings in Europe. »

Gérard Magnin, Executive Director of Energy-Cities (EC), opened the first round of discussion stating about importance of the role Display is playing in supporting and influencing EPBD – European Public Buildings Directive.
The second part of the event highlighted short success stories from participating municipalities and organisations in their communication campaigns, with Philippe Bovet (independent Swiss journalist) running the show, swiss precisely.
Finally, Peter Schilken (EC), gave an even greater dimension to the whole event by hosting debate, among several important European experts, which aimed to point out all the advantages and experience that Display® Campaign (DC), as a voluntary label, gained through its journey – 7 magical years.

Mr Schilken, basing on his experience in running Display® Campaign, concluded that « DC Cities are absolutely willing to go for European voluntary certificate as well as for the communication campaigns. »

The video of the event is available here.
