Environment Agency Water Efficiency Awards - UK

Friday 16 March 2007

Durham County Council is a committed member of the European Municipal Buildings Climate Campaign. It is the first and only municipality in Europe to display energy performance (Display®) certificates in all its buildings

The Energy Management Unit (EMU) of Durham County Council continually strives to make users of the Council’s 500 buildings more aware of the need to conserve energy and water resources. Already having fitted a range of water saving gadgets including urinal controls, tap restrictors and WC cistern reducers, the team knew there was still the potential to increase utility efficiency awareness among council building users. This is being tackled through three projects: the Display® campaign, Form F1 monthly meter readings, and advanced smart metering.

Thanks to its active participation in the Display® campaign, Durham County Council recieved a commendation at the Environment Agency Water Efficiency Awards 2007
